Round Robin DNS

alpharithms fallback 1

Round Robin DNS is a load distribution approach used in computer networking to help reduce the amount of traffic on any single server maintained by a host organization.

This system provides multiple IP service hosts such that DNS queries, HTTP requests, and other network traffic are distributed among several host machines. Round Robin DNS requests operate on a basic level by responding with multiple IP addresses for a hostname query.

Each request sees that this list of IP addresses has its order shuffled such that no two sequential queries will resolve to the same IP address initially. There is no standard for wait periods between requests that timeout.
